Security. Ownership. Worth.

Financial co-operatives have improved the lives of millions of people, and have the potential to serve millions more. In the developed world they offer a credible alternative to commercial banks, and in the developing world they offer a unique take on microfinance that is lifting millions out of poverty.

Credit is important, but not sufficient on its own to reduce poverty. The community capital created through the development of co-operatives can be applied to other factors that contribute to poverty.

CDF helps to support CCA's international work that provides financial services to the poor, combining traditional credit union practices with the lessons learned from recent innovations in micro-finance. The focus is on providing services that truly respond to the needs of the poor.
